Boys & Girls Clubs of the Crescent Region gladly accepts individuals and groups interested in volunteering to work with our members.
You can assist our program staff in one of our scheduled programs, help members with their homework, or work with ouor staff to teach the members a special talent that you have. Some examples special classes are science class, digital photography, and fine arts. This is a great way to gain valuable experience working with kids.
We welcome large groups that want to volunteer either long term or as a one time event. Some of our corporate partners have signed up groups of 10 to 15 volunteers to share tutoring responsibilities, committing to have 5 volunteers tutor one or two days per week. We have also worked with groups that want to put on one day events for our members including end of the summer cook outs, and Thanksgiving meals for the community.
All volunteers have to go through a local and national criminal background check and orientation prior to having any contact with the members.
Contact Vanessa Hall to sign up to volunteer at 231.3300.
About BE GREAT Academy
The BE GREAT Academy is the afterschool program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Crescent Region. We have a lineup of tested and proven nationally recognized programs that address today’s most pressing youth issues, teaching young people the skills they need to succeed in life.
More than 25 national programs are available in the areas of education, the environment, health, the arts, careers, alcohol/drug and pregnancy prevention, gang prevention, leadership development and athletics. We provide programs for youth after school and during the summer months that are designed to meet identified needs and interests of the participants.
Our challenge is to teach our members things they need to know using things that they like to do. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
