Be Great Academy Character & Leadership Youth Programs

BE GREAT Academy Leadership & Service Youth Programs & Initiatives

Our Leadership & Service programs help youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills for participating in civic engagement & community service. They also develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for planning, decision-making, contributing to Club and community and celebrating diverse cultures.

Torch Clubs

Torch Clubs are chartered, small-group leadership and service clubs for members in grades 4-8. Torch Clubs give members the opportunity to take an active role in shaping their BE GREAT Academy.  Weekly lessons highlight leadership skills such as responsibility, communication, perspective, integrity & perseverance. Annual initiatives, such as the Kindness Challenge & Stuff-A-Bus, allow members a chance to put their skills into practice.  A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs during a critical stage in their life.

Keystone Club

This leadership group exclusively for High School members builds upon the foundation and skills taught in Torch Club. Keystone focuses on the cultivation of good character and effective leadership & supports the development of productive, responsible and caring citizens. It also fosters lifelong civic engagement, high school graduation, and broader employment opportunities for our nation’s teens.

Youth of the Month

Each month every club recognizes the member that has best represented the BE GREAT Traits at the Club, in school & at home.  This celebration of hard work, dedication and community helps to encourage members to be their best selves all year.
