Annually, BE GREAT Academy members get the opportunity to participate in a professional style Art Show. Each week campuses submit the most dynamic work created during Visual Arts programming. From these pieces the top works in Monochromatic, Colored Pencil, Watercolor, Printmaking, Collage, Oil & Acrylic, Mixed Media, & Pastel are chosen to go on display and be judged by local artists & arts administrators. First Place winners in each category move on to represent BGCCR at the Southeast Regional Arts Competition. BE GREAT Academy has had 14 members win the Southeast Regional competition over the past 6 years.
Members get to show off their technique and skill, when they come together for this fun and festive event. Taking place at the end of our winter curriculum, the Dodgeball Exhibition is a way to bring families together and for building community.
This spring event celebrates academic success and growth. Competitions in Spelling, Math, Science, Public Speaking, & Trivia, highlight educational excellence and merit while recognizing members for their poise and sportsmanship in addition to their scholarship.
Flag Football Tournament
The BE GREAT Academy Flag Football tournament brings together athletes of all experience levels for a community exhibition tournament.
Our annual initiative in partnership with Richland County Public Library, the Columbia Fireflies and the KidLit Community, to promote literacy among our members. This 30 day campaign asks members to read as many books as they can in order to win prizes for themselves and their clubs. Suggested reading lists and daily “Get Caught Reading” challenges help to introduce members to different authors and genres while making a positive association with books & literacy.
Sowing seeds of kindness is an important part of what we do. Our Kindness Challenge dares members & staff to model good character and leadership. Members who complete 70 acts of kindness receive an invitation to an exclusive celebration.
Stuff-A-Bus Food Drive
Giving from the heart helps our members learn empathy, practice civic engagements, and participate in community service. Our members donate thousands of food & household items to Food Banks in their local community.
